Eddystone XE120 120W FM exciter / transmitter is a compact, fully featured broadcast platform that can operate as a wideband exciter or as a stand-alone low power transmitter.
Wideband design techniques allow rapid frequency setting in 50 kHz steps using easily accessible front-panel controls, with no internal tuning required.
This makes the exciter ideal for multi-site networks, backup chains and applications where fast frequency changes or redeployment are required.
The unit uses a unique ultra-linear modulator that provides superb sound reproduction with freedom from overshoots and artefacts, maintaining clean deviation even with complex programme material.
A precision temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) delivers exceptional frequency stability, specified at better than ±200 Hz across the FM band.
Conservatively rated RF and power-supply components are employed throughout to achieve high efficiency and long service life in demanding 24/7 on-air environments.
For control and monitoring, the exciter includes a clear front-panel LCD display that allows selection of forward and reverse RF power, operating frequency, heatsink temperature and any installed baseband input module settings.
The display also shows fault and status messages such as low or high power, mute, interlock, phase lock fail and fan fail, supported by dedicated green/red LED indicators for system and CPU status.
A front-panel RF monitor point is provided, while the rear panel includes a remote control / monitoring connector for carrier muting and status signalling to external systems, with optional RS232 (/A) or TCP/IP (/T) interfaces for enhanced remote access.
The Eddystone XE120 will operate safely into any load thanks to a VSWR cut-back circuit that protects the power amplifier stage from adverse conditions, reducing output as necessary to prevent damage.
RF output is adjustable from 10 W to 120 W over the 87.5 to 108 MHz broadcast band, with harmonic and spurious outputs typically better than -75 dBc to meet regulatory requirements.
AC input is 88–264 V at 47–63 Hz, allowing flexible deployment in a wide range of transmitter sites.
These capabilities make Eddystone XE120 a strong choice for main, standby or translator use where audio quality, frequency agility and reliability are essential.
