Description
The Sonifex RB-DS2 is a high-quality stereo audio delay synchroniser, designed to resynchronise audio to video after various delay-inducing processes such as standards conversion, transmission delay, logo insertion, video aspect ratio conversion, and network delays. It supports digital audio signals up to 96kHz, 24 bit, ensuring superb sonic quality and smooth, silent switching for clean audio delay.
Key Features:
- Inputs & Outputs:
- Balanced analogue and AES/EBU digital audio on 3-pin XLR connectors.
- Can function as an A/D and D/A unit, allowing analogue inputs to be delayed and output as AES/EBU or vice-versa.
- Can be used in stereo, dual mono, or mono modes.
- Delay Capabilities:
- Standard delay: Up to 10.5 seconds at 96kHz, 24 bit (42 seconds at 48kHz, 16 bit).
- Expanded delay: With Compact Flash™ expansion (up to 2GB), delay times exceed 4 hours.
- Delay time units: Samples, fields, frames, meters, milliseconds, and hh:mm
(with CF expansion).
- User Interface:
- Blue vacuum fluorescent display with rotary controller.
- Settings include source selection (analogue/digital), channels, sample rate, bit width, format (PAL/NTSC), delay units, and delay time.
- Input peak levels: Selectable from +12dBu, +18dBu, and +24dBu for FSD.
- Rear panel pre-set potentiometers adjust input gain by ±3dB around the selected peak digits.
- Output Control:
- Analogue output gain: Adjustable in software from -6dBu to +24dBu output level, ref FSD.
- Separate muting for both analogue and digital outputs.
- Bypass function: Diverts both analogue and digital inputs to their outputs via electro-mechanical relays, also engaged automatically during power-fail.

CONNECTIVITY Receiver Input AES Digital Audio I/O:AES3 (XLR) digital audio loop-through; 44.1kHz sampling rate Network Interface: LAN (RJ45) connection to local network and through user’s router to Internet for full Web Interface remote control and monitoring. PLACEMENT IN AIRCHAIN In HD Radio AES Audio Feed: the JUSTIN 808 will automatically correct diversity delay errors and r.m.s. level errors between the FM and HD1 programs In Analog FM AES Audio Feed: the JUSTIN 808 is capable of providing the entire diversity delay ,if required. It will automatically correct diversity delay errors ,but cannot normalize r.m.s. level errors between the two programs. DELAY CORRECTION Correction Resolution: Maximum Delay Error Correction: Time Required to Correlate Delay Errors: Time Required to Correct Delay Errors: “Catch-Up” Button Feature: also accessible via the Web Interface ,permits a manual time alignment quick reset to a previous long-term mean value. This obviates correlation acquisition and brings time alignment close to the required figure. AUDIO LEVEL & PHASE CORRECTION The JUSTIN 808 offers automatic program phase correction when a phase reversal is sensed between the analog FM and digital HD1 program channels. R.M.S. level correction is also available when the JUSTIN 808 is placed in the AES digital audio feed to the HD Radio exciter. ALARMS AND LOGGING Alarm Conditions 2.
