Omnia VOLT audio processor is a compact 1RU multi-use broadcast platform that delivers flagship Omnia sound for FM, AM, HD, DAB and streaming in a single, flexible unit. Using the DSP|Core firmware concept, Omnia VOLT audio processor can be loaded as an FM processor, an AM processor, an HD/DAB/DRM pre-processor or a studio/composite generator without changing hardware. This lets engineers standardise on one Omnia VOLT audio processor across different sites while still tailoring processing behaviour to each transmission path.
Inside Omnia VOLT audio processor, a wideband AGC feeds five-band AGC and five-band time-aligned limiters to keep programme audio loud and consistent while protecting against overmodulation on both FM and AM services. A new-generation low-distortion clipper designed by Frank Foti delivers strong competitive loudness with reduced intermodulation and cleaner high frequencies on crowded FM bands. For HD, DAB and other coded platforms, the HD PRO profile adds Sensus processing that preconditions audio to minimise codec artefacts at lower bitrates, improving clarity and impact on digital multiplexes and multicast streams.
Omnia VOLT audio processor provides Deep Bass, Phat Bass and Warmth enhancers, plus stereo enhancement and Clipper Silk controls so engineers can fine-tune impact, texture and brightness for different program formats. Equalisation stages before and after the multiband limiter allow precise shaping of spectrum and speech presence on both AM and FM feeds. Flexible I/O includes analog and AES/EBU digital connections, with options for Livewire AoIP and dual composite outputs on FM profiles, along with adjustable pre-emphasis, pilot level and BS-412 compliant controls for regulated markets.
