The Nautel NX5 5 kW AM transmitter is a modern, solid state medium wave transmitter designed for high efficiency analog and digital operation in the 531–1700 kHz band. It uses two hot-pluggable RF power modules built around Nautel’s Class-D amplifier/modulator architecture, providing up to 5.5 kW carrier power with excellent linearity, integrated precorrection and industry-leading efficiency. Compact cabinet dimensions and the Advanced User Interface make it suitable for both main and backup AM sites where space, control and reliability are critical.
The Nautel NX5 provides a 50 ohm unbalanced RF output on 7/8″ or 1 5/8″ EIA flanges, depending on configuration, for direct connection into standard AM transmission lines. Program inputs and control interfaces are designed to accommodate multiple analog and digital feeds, with support for redundant digital exciters using FPGA/DSP technology and automatic changeover. Engineers can access monitoring, control and built-in spectrum and modulation measurement tools via the front-panel interface or remotely through the AUI, allowing the NX5 to sit at the heart of a modern AM plant alongside other AM and Shortwave RF infrastructure.
