LBA Technology’s Rapidly Deployable TGR-65 AM Antenna System

LBA Technology’s TGR-65 AM antenna system is designed for swift deployment, offering exceptional signal performance and seamless compatibility with all transmitters. Its compact size ensures efficient installation and operation. This 65-foot antenna system, complete with an integral tuning unit and ground radials, can be set up in under two hours with minimal labour. Taking it down and repacking for redeployment is a quick process, achievable in less than 2 hours.

The TGR-65 features LBA’s proprietary Tunipole® folded unipole antenna design, trusted by broadcasters worldwide for many years. This guyed and top-loaded system exhibits remarkable bandwidth and signal stability, all within its compact design. The integrated tuning unit allows for field tuning, ensuring an optimal 50-ohm match with the existing transmitter facility output. The TGR-65 is rated for power up to 1,000 watts, with 125% modulation capability. It is designed to cover the entire AM band, delivering peak efficiency and full power ratings for frequencies at and above 1000 kHz.

• Mast Height: 65 feet (ca. 20 m), top-loaded.
• Antenna Tuning Unit: Adjustable, capable of handling up to 1000 watts.
• Ground Radials: 30 radials at a length of 100 feet (ca. 30 m) each (optimal at 200 feet (ca. 61 m)).
• Frequency Range: Covers a broad spectrum from 530 kHz to 1710 kHz.
• Radiation Pattern: Omnidirectional, ensuring a wide broadcast reach.
• Input Power: Accepts up to 1000 watts (500 watts for frequencies below 1000 kHz).
• Input Impedance: Set at 50 ohms for efficient signal transmission.
• Field Strength: Dependent on frequency, offering robust performance with 110 mV/m/kw/km at 550 kHz, 150 mV/m/kw/km at 1200 kHz, and 280 mV/m/kw/km at 1700 kHz.
• Estimated Coverage Area: Under favourable soil conditions, it provides an estimated coverage area of 12 to 18 miles at 1650 kHz.
• Ambient Temperature: Operates within a wide temperature range, from -40 °C to +50 °C, with humidity levels up to 95%.
• Ice Resilience: Designed to withstand up to ¼-inch radial ice.
• Wind Resistance: Capable of withstanding gusts of up to 70 mph (20 mph during installation).
• Installation Area: To ensure optimal performance, the antenna installation necessitates a flat, open area with a diameter of 200 feet (ca. 61 m), free from nearby structures that might affect antenna function.
