The Glensound Interpreter Box is a professional simultaneous interpretation unit designed specifically for interpreters working in live on-air broadcast situations. The single-user unit provides all the features and functionality required by an interpreter to monitor a pre-translated source and deliver high-quality interpreted audio output with broadcast-grade specifications.
The Glensound Interpreter Box features a single microphone input that can be connected via rear panel or top panel XLR sockets, making it suitable for standard microphones or gooseneck microphones. The rear panel input is switchable between dynamic mic and 48V phantom power modes, with an adjustable gain pot and front panel meter for setting optimal input levels. Glensound’s Referee compressor/limiter system can be switched on or off to prevent input clipping, and the microphone is controlled via a top panel toggle switch with a large, clear LED indicating mic-on status. A separate momentary cough button provides instant mic muting without switching off the main mic.
The headphone monitoring system provides separate 6.35mm and 3.5mm jack sockets available on both front and rear panels, allowing flexible connection options for different headphone types. Interpreters can monitor the external floor input (audio to be interpreted) or monitor another interpreter’s output via the CM bus language input. The monitored audio includes adjustable level control and two-band EQ for maximum intelligibility. The rear panel contains two RJ45 sockets for CAT 5 linking of multiple Interpreter Boxes together, with the CM bus carrying both audio between units and control logic, allowing one interpreter to follow another’s interpreted output instead of the floor input.
