AxelTech PUMA is a professional FM rebroadcast receiver and Audio-over-IP encoder for transmitter sites, relay stations and broadcast networks. Its frequency-agile DSP tuner receives FM signals from 87.5 to 108 MHz, recovering a complete MPX signal that can feed an FM transmitter or another MPX distribution path.
Designed for unattended broadcast installations, PUMA combines FM reception with built-in RF, MPX, audio and RDS monitoring. Engineers can check incoming signal quality, modulation and programme status locally on the front-panel display or remotely through the embedded web server. The unit also includes RDS decoding and UECP-format data output for RDS bridging and rebroadcast applications.
In addition to its analogue, AES/EBU and MPX outputs, AxelTech PUMA encodes received programme audio for network delivery. It supports UDP/RTP, TCP/IP and Icecast2 streaming, with OGG Vorbis and optional MP3, AAC, HE-AAC and HE-AAC v2 encoding. This allows stations to monitor the off-air programme remotely, feed a low-bandwidth backup stream or distribute received audio to other network locations.
Dual Ethernet ports, dual USB ports, RS-232 and four opto-isolated GPIs with four relay outputs support integration into broadcast control and monitoring systems. The receiver is designed for high immunity to strong RF fields, while a front-panel headphone output provides a convenient local confidence-monitoring point at the transmitter site.
AxelTech PUMA is a natural companion to the AxelTech Tiger E3/E5 FM site controller and MPX generator, which can provide transmitter-site control, MPX generation and RDS encoding. For programme processing before transmission, it can also be used alongside the AxelTech Falcon X5 audio processor. Where a dedicated bidirectional STL or studio-to-site IP link is required, the AxelTech Streamer Max MKII provides complementary full-duplex audio transport over IP.
