Biquad Punch S AM/FM Audio Processor is part of the Punch family of digital 5-band processors developed for stations that want modern, competitive sound without the complexity or cost of high-end flagship units. It uses DSP-based multiband processing to control dynamics and increase loudness, making it ideal for FM, migrated AM and other broadcast applications that need strong presence and unified programme levels.
At the input, Punch S provides intelligent wideband AGC to stabilise the average level coming from the studio mixer or automation system. The audio is then split into five independent frequency bands, each with its own compression and limiting algorithms designed to maximise loudness while masking distortion artefacts. This architecture helps the station maintain a powerful, well-defined sound on air with consistent tonal balance across different programme material.
The processor is operated through front-panel controls and supplied PC software. On the front, an encoder and OLED display give direct access to core parameters, presets and status, while a USB port provides easy local connection for configuration. The control software offers a clear overview of processing stages, allowing engineers to fine-tune the sound, create and store custom presets, and select from a bank of factory settings that cover different music and speech formats.
Biquad Punch S focuses on analog I/O to keep cost and complexity down while still providing what most stations need. The rear panel includes analog audio inputs and outputs plus an analog MPX output and synchronisation for external RDS/RBDS encoders, allowing the processed composite signal to be fed directly to traditional FM exciters and transmitters. This makes Punch S particularly attractive for broadcasters upgrading older air chains where analog MPX is still the standard.
Biquad Punch S is designed to sit between the studio and transmitter and works well with FM transmitters available from Broadcasters Warehouse. It can drive AM transmitters such as the Paquete Norton NB.Z2000 de 100 W AM, or FM systems like the RFE Broadcast DS1000C 30W–1.1kW FM transmitter, and complete air-chain solutions including the ECRESO 1kW FM Package, ensuring that its processed signal goes straight into a wide range of modern FM transmission setups.
