MARIAN Clara B – PCIe AD/DA & AES/EBU Interface

Marian Clara B is a low-profile PCIe AD/DA and AES/EBU interface with high dynamic range, balanced analog I/O and AES/EBU digital connectivity for professional studio and broadcast PCs.

Overview – Marian Clara B PCIe AD/DA & AES/EBU interface

Marian Clara B PCIe AD/DA & AES/EBU interface is a low-profile PCIe audio card designed for continuous operation in studio, broadcast and post-production computers. It fits compact desktop, media and server housings, while an included full-height bracket supports installation in standard 19-inch workstations. With high-resolution converters, flexible analog reference levels and integrated digital I/O, Marian Clara B provides a robust solution for DAWs, playout systems and ingest machines that need dependable multichannel audio from a single PCIe slot.

Analog and digital audio performance

The analog section of Marian Clara B PCIe AD/DA & AES/EBU interface offers up to 32-bit, 384 kHz conversion with a dynamic range around 128 dB, so signals retain detail and headroom even in demanding mixes. Two balanced analog inputs and two balanced analog outputs are available via a DB25 breakout, with configurable maximum levels up to +24 dBu to match professional console and router operating points. One AES/EBU input and one AES/EBU output support up to 24-bit, 192 kHz operation, and the digital input can use sample-rate conversion to integrate external sources running at other sample rates.

Synchronization, expansion and driver support

Internal clocking on Marian Clara B can lock to the AES/EBU input or to the TDM SyncBus when several Marian cards share the same system. Optional MWX or Clara B+ versions add wordclock I/O and MIDI ports, enabling tight synchronization to house reference and outboard equipment. A TDM SyncBus connection allows up to 32 channels of audio to be exchanged between multiple Clara or SERAPH systems, so larger configurations can be built inside one machine while still appearing as a single ASIO interface to host software.

Control, Beast mixer, integration and alternatives

The continuously updated driver suite delivers low-latency multi-client ASIO and multi-channel WDM/WASAPI support, allowing several applications to access Marian Clara B PCIe AD/DA & AES/EBU interface at the same time. The integrated Beast DSP mixer provides flexible routing, summing and monitoring, so signals from DAWs, system audio and external I/O can be combined without extra hardware. Engineers needing more I/O density can also consider the Digigram ALP442e multichannel PCIe sound card or the AudioScience ASI5744 PCI Express broadcast sound card, and the wider sound card range for larger studio and broadcast installations.
