Glensound Spark Dante Single-User Commentary Unit

Glensound Spark is a compact single-user Dante commentary unit with microphone input, headphone mixing and configurable talkback circuits.

Glensound Spark is a professional single-user Dante commentary unit for sports, outside broadcast, live events and studio production. Its compact desktop format gives a commentator a high-quality microphone input, local headphone monitoring and talkback control while connecting directly to a Dante audio network through a single Neutrik EtherCON connection.

Glensound Spark Dante Commentary Unit

The unit uses Audinate’s Broadway Dante chipset and provides eight Dante input channels and eight Dante output channels. Spark requires only four inputs and four outputs for its own commentary operation, leaving four Dante inputs and four Dante outputs available for other network audio tasks. This makes it a practical choice where a compact commentator position also needs to carry additional programme, IFB, communications or monitoring signals.

Glensound Spark includes a microphone preamplifier with a wide gain range, switchable 48 V phantom power and a local headphone amplifier. The commentator can create a personal headphone mix from received Dante audio channels, balancing programme, cue and communications feeds as required. A separate headphone limiter helps maintain safe listening levels during long broadcasts.

The Spark range is available in versions with zero, one, two or three talkback circuits. Talkback buttons can be configured through Glensound’s GlenController software, allowing each unit to suit the operational needs of a particular commentator position. GlenController also provides remote control, monitoring and configuration functions for networked Spark units.

For productions requiring a larger commentator panel with multiple user positions, consider the Glensound CU001 Dante. Where a portable beltpack-style commentator position is preferred, the Glensound VITA Mini X provides a current Dante/AES67-compatible alternative with on-air and talkback circuits.
