Broadcast Electronics AMX 3 is a compact 3 kW AM transmitter with silicon-carbide amplification, standard MDCL+ carrier control, front-access modules and HTML5 remote monitoring.
Broadcast Electronics AMX 3 – 3 kW AM Transmitter combines silicon-carbide RF amplification and modulation in a compact 5U rackmount chassis. Its published output range of 50 W–3.4 kW supports different operating levels, while 85% efficiency at 3 kW carrier power into a 50-ohm load helps control energy consumption. Standard MDCL+ adds programme-dependent carrier reduction.
Silicon-carbide MOSFETs serve both the RF amplifier and pulse-width modulator. Integrated MDCL+ provides continuously adjustable carrier reduction up to 6 dB, with actual energy savings dependent on programme content and settings. Safe Mode protection places the amplifier into a protected state during severe electrical events. The transmitter supports full carrier power into a nominal 1.5:1 VSWR, with automatic power reduction at higher mismatch.
Broadcast Electronics AMX 3 provides front-access RF modules, power supplies and a removable harmonic-filter assembly. Rear-removable exciter and control modules reduce the need to dismantle the rack installation during service. The transmitter is supplied on one ordered frequency within 525–1705 kHz; frequency changes require the appropriate harmonic filter and calibration rather than a software-only tuning adjustment.
An OLED front-panel display and HTML5 browser interface provide metering, configuration and diagnostics. SNMPv3, parallel remote connections and a 500-event log support station supervision. Balanced analogue and two AES3 inputs accommodate different audio chains. HD Radio and DRM operation require the appropriate external signal generator. Optional Orban Inside processing adds integrated AM audio processing and HLS streaming input.
