Biquad DAP4 FM is a DSP-based 5‑band FM audio processor designed specifically for on-air processing and modulation control in FM radio stations. It combines digital and analog I/O, an internal high‑performance stereo encoder and dedicated FM tools to deliver loud, clean and controlled sound straight to the transmitter or STL link.
The processor handles two audio channels (left and right) and starts with a dual‑band input AGC to stabilise programme levels before they enter the multiband section. The core processing engine then works across five independent bands, each with its own AGC and limiter, plus unique intelligent pre‑emphasis control that optimises processing around the FM pre‑emphasis curve. Built‑in enhancers for bass, mid and treble, together with stereo expansion, allow engineers to add impact and presence without sacrificing clarity. The internal digital stereo encoder offers more than 80 dB stereo separation from 10 Hz to 16 kHz, and the unit provides MPX outputs ready for direct connection to the FM transmitter, with precise pilot level and full compatibility with RDS/RBDS systems.
Biquad DAP4 FM can be configured locally via its front‑panel touch screen or remotely over IP or USB using Biquad’s control software, which presents an intuitive graphical interface. There are 20 factory presets for different formats such as rock, pop, generic and harmonic, plus 20 user memories that can be customised and saved. Automatic preset scheduling lets the station change processing profiles by time of day or day of week to match different shows. The unit is built in a 19″ rack chassis (2U) with brushed stainless steel finish and full‑range power supply, making it suitable for main or backup processing chains.
