The AudioScience ASI6416 is a professional PCI CobraNet sound card with 8 stereo inputs and outputs over 100Mbit Ethernet, 24-bit precision, Texas Instruments TMS320C6713 floating-point DSP, and support for PCM, MP3, and MPEG Layer 2 compression on all streams.
The AudioScience ASI6416 is a professional PCI audio adapter designed for broadcast and entertainment applications requiring networked audio distribution. Using Cirrus Logic’s CobraNet technology for streaming audio over Ethernet, the ASI6416 provides 8 stereo inputs and 8 stereo outputs (16×16 channels) and can be connected to any CobraNet-compliant device on a 100BaseT network.
The ASI6416 is based on the Texas Instruments TMS320C6713 VLIW floating-point DSP connected to a high-speed bus-master PCI interface. AudioScience MRX technology allows up to 16 streams of different formats and sample rates to be played, recorded, and mixed simultaneously over CobraNet. A choice of 16-bit PCM, MP3, or MPEG Layer 2 compression is available on all streams, and sample rate conversion operates from 8 kHz to 96 kHz with 1 Hz resolution.
AudioScience provides ASIControl application software that allows CobraNet routing connections to be configured between the ASI6416 and any other compliant CobraNet device on the network. Alternatively, third-party CobraNet design and management software may be used such as CobraCAD, CobraNet Discovery, or CobraNet Manager. The card operates at 48 kHz with selectable latency of 1.33, 2.66, or 5.33 ms and supports up to 4 cards in one system.
The AudioScience ASI6416 supports multiple adapter modes including 16-Play, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mono, and Low Latency for flexible broadcast and installation applications.
